Mountaineer, border crosser, author, mountain farmer.....honorary citizen of Funes/Villnöss Valley.
Reinhold Messner was born on 17 September 1944 in Bressanone and grew up in the Funes Valley, where he also climbed the first peaks. Already at the age of 5 he climbed the first three thousand metre peak accompanied by his father.
